YOUR INFORMATION
Privacy at CampSouth.
What we collect and why
When you register, we collect your name, email address and account credentials to provide and protect your account. Supabase handles authentication. Owners provide organisation and campsite details, photographs, location, facilities, prices and availability so we can manage listings and show relevant search results. Reservation forms collect stay dates, site quantities and the guest/contact details requested by the form. Demonstration records help us test the booking journey; they do not confirm accommodation.
We process technical request information, security logs and rate-limit records to operate the service and prevent abuse. Required form fields are needed for the requested function; optional fields can be left empty. Do not upload identity documents, bank information or sensitive guest information into listing text, photographs, calendar notes or support requests.
What other people can see
Published campsite descriptions, photographs, amenities, prices and public links are visible to visitors. Authorised owner team members can manage their organisation’s listings and reservation information. Campers can access their own private booking information. Administrators may access information needed for support, review and security.
Owners choose an exact public campsite position or an approximate area. Approximate map pins are not arrival points. Precise coordinates and the optional address are stored separately from the public position. Demonstration bookings do not unlock private directions. CampSouth removes embedded metadata from new uploads and from photographs served through the application. Existing stored originals remain restricted to authorised managers. Visible landmarks, public descriptions and external links can still reveal a location: check the content before publishing.
Cookies, search links and device location
Authentication uses necessary session cookies. Search dates, guest counts, filters and selected map bounds appear in page URLs, which can be stored in browser history or shared. Avoid personal information in search text. The owner’s “Use my position” control requests browser permission only when selected; use it only at the campsite and verify the coordinates before saving.
Google Maps and ratings
When enabled, opening a map connects your browser to Google. Google receives technical information such as your IP address and browser information and handles data under the Google Privacy Policy, incorporated here for Google features. Opening a shared map-view link may load Google immediately. You can browse the campsite list without opening a map.
Google ratings, when enabled, are requested by CampSouth’s server after you select the rating control. That request identifies the linked public Google place; we do not send your booking details to retrieve a rating. Google ratings are separate from CampSouth reviews. External Google links take you to Google’s service.
Service providers and international processing
Supabase provides authentication, database and file storage; the current development database is in Ireland. Vercel provides website hosting and delivery, and Resend delivers authentication email. These providers and Google may process information outside South Africa, including through global delivery infrastructure. A database region does not guarantee that all processing stays in that country. Provider safeguards and cross-border arrangements must be reviewed before production launch.
WhatsApp sharing opens an external link: you choose the recipient and whether to send it. Automated WhatsApp notifications are not currently active. Live payments are disabled; demonstration payments do not collect money or card details. We will update this notice before introducing live payment processing or additional messaging services.
Retention and your choices
Account, listing and demonstration records remain stored unless removed through an authorised process. There is not yet a general automatic deletion schedule. Before launch, the operator must finalise retention periods, backup handling and a verified process for privacy requests.
You may request access to your personal information, correction or deletion where applicable, and raise concerns about its use. Identity may need to be verified before a request is fulfilled; some records may need to be retained for legal or security reasons. Send requests to JaenJ@Outlook.com. You may also contact South Africa’s Information Regulator.
